Other Material

Here is some other material that we have discovered and is in various stages of development. Ideally each deposit will have its own page – I am just not there yet sorry!

This is an unusual rock from Vancouver Island – a breccia of sorts that contains some copper. There are nice colors in amoeba-shaped patterns. This site has good potential for stone tables as well as specimens but no material is available at this time.
This is a 9 inch long Vancouver Island Dallasite bowl that I carved out of an appropriate piece. Dallasite is a jasper that forms around pillow basalts and is considered a gemstone in British Columbia. I have a lot of Dallasite available.
Another cut Dallasite pair.
This is a basalt from near the west coast of Vancouver Island. It resembles an asteroid field or blizzard. The larger “flakes” give way to smaller flakes and gives the piece real depth. This material produces a decent polish and there is potentially a good supply of it available.
Another Asteroid or Cosmic Stone. This is a volcanic rock from a different location than above.
Crinoidal Jasper Marble from Vancouver Island.
There is good opportunity for big table-sized pieces at this location. The colors are really nice as are the textures. This appears to be a conglomerate.
Large, over 20 lb piece of agate from the Haida Gwaii. I knew this was a good one because it held so much water.
Agate bookends cut from piece shown above.
Night Sky Stone from Vancouver Island. This is a copper ore.
Another piece of Night Sky Stone. There are some decent-sized pieces of this material available but not to table size.
Just found – really nice red jasper full of manganese from a different site than the Monet Jasper Stone. This piece is quite competent – not much porosity and limited fractures. Each half is about 5 inches tall. More to come!
